38CrMoAlA is a special nitriding steel, generally used in machine tool spindle and other places, before nitriding to be tempered, the hardness of the nitriding treatment is quite high, the hardness of HV800, hardened layer can reach 0.30mm ~ 0.5mm, hardness, wear resistance than 45 steel is much better, but the price is also higher than 45 # steel.

38CrMoAlA is not brittle after nitriding, unless nitriding defects occur, but its high temperature resistance is generally good, but much better than 45# steel. If you need high temperature resistance, you can choose heat-resistant steel, 38CrMoAlA after nitriding the main advantage is wear resistance.
